Anastasia’s Story
People often ask me “How can you be a Republican?”
My response is, “How could I not be a Republican?”
My life story is one of hard work and success. I am proud of the woman that I am, the daughter and granddaughter that I continue to be, and the fierce mom that is constantly evolving within me. It is that last title — “mom” — that has inspired me to run for public office and to give back. I think that our children’s futures are at stake, and I’m not willing to take chances.
I was born in New Britain, CT. My public education was focused on academics – and I excelled in school, as anyone can. I am incredibly proud that I received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence for my hard work and dedication to learning at a young age.
The greatest influence in my life has been my grandfather. He built a career in the Air Force before retiring to create several successful businesses in manufacturing and real estate. He gave a great deal of time and energy to working with fellow veterans, ensuring that they received the care and services they required. His service inspired me to follow in his footsteps and give back to our veterans. These are our heroes, just like my grandfather, and I am passionate about being a voice for them.
Surrounded by family members who built their own versions of the American dream here in Connecticut, I decided on a career in finance at around age 10. I knew, even then, that I would have a fortune of my own to oversee one day.
Today, I am proud to say that I am a self-made woman who is living my American dream. My career has centered on finance and mortgage lending. As an SBA loan officer, I processed billions of dollars in relief funds for small businesses during the COVID crisis. During that time, I saw the damaging effects that government overreach could have on those just trying to survive.
When I had my son in 2017, my life changed. Like so many moms before me, he became my world. And as the pandemic upended his life and the lives of children all around us, I found myself fighting to assure their success. I decided that I needed to step up and become more involved in our schools’ efforts to prepare all children for future success through education. I was elected to the Newington Board of Education, and my background in finance led me to chair the BOE’s Finance and Budget Department. I continue in that role today, serving as a voice for anyone who needs an advocate and making it my mission to help kids who continue to struggle in this post-pandemic world.
Now I am ready to take my skills and passion to the state level. My goal is to help build a responsible State government that is accountable to everyone in the 20th District and Connecticut.
